THE WEATHER WITHIN A Full Moon Reflection on Fear, Faith & the Unknown
There is a great deal stirring in the heavens, and perhaps an even greater deal stirring within us.
As we move deeper into autumn, the days grow shorter and Nature begins her slow retreat into the stillness of winter. In the sidereal zodiac, the Sun, representing our inner light and the essence of the Self, is travelling through Libra, its sign of debilitation. Venus and Mercury are also moving retrograde through this territory, inviting us to reconsider where we seek balance, harmony and stability in our lives.
As we approach Diwali on November 8, the ancient festival celebrating the triumph of light over darkness, knowledge over ignorance and hope over despair, its symbolism feels particularly poignant this year, as the world around us appears anything but still.
Everywhere I go, I hear conversations about the extraordinary changes unfolding in our world. Political and economic uncertainty, extreme weather, rapid technological developments and the growing fear of what might come next. There is an unmistakable sense of unease, as though something enormous is gathering just beyond the horizon.
And astrologically, there is.
AS ABOVE, SO BELOW
November brings some of the most concentrated planetary configurations of 2026. Saturn and Neptune are both retrograde in the deep waters of Pisces, dissolving old structures and revealing illusions we may have mistaken for reality. Rahu and Ketu approach the final degrees of Aquarius and Leo, stirring questions about technology, power, identity and the future of our collective lives.
Meanwhile, Mars and Jupiter are gathering momentum in Cancer, amplifying the emotional waters before their movement into fiery Leo, while the retrogrades in Libra ask us to revisit our values, relationships and the balance between our inner and outer worlds.
It is a remarkable celestial landscape, reflecting a world undergoing profound transformation. Yet transformation is not necessarily destruction. Sometimes what feels like the end of the world is simply the end of a world we have known.
And birth, too, is chaos.
From a psychological perspective, periods of uncertainty can awaken our deepest fears, activating unconscious patterns and projections that shape how we perceive the world. When familiar structures begin to dissolve, the mind often rushes to fill the unknown with predictions and worst-case scenarios, seeking certainty even in frightening possibilities.
But we cannot imagine a beautiful future if we are entirely consumed by visions of its destruction.
Perhaps our invitation is to turn away from the endless noise of the collective for a while and pay attention to the weather within.
THE HEALING LIGHT OF ASHWINI
This Full Moon reaches its fullness in Ashwini, the first of the 27 lunar mansions, ruled by Ketu and associated with the Ashwini Kumaras, the celestial twin healers.
Ashwini carries the vitality of the horse, the promise of renewal and the impulse to begin something new. Yet with Mars, ruler of Aries, debilitated in Cancer, we may feel restless, emotionally full or eager to act without knowing quite where to direct our energy.
There is a beautiful paradox here. The Full Moon offers the nourishing soma of healing and renewal, while the planetary landscape invites us to pause before rushing forward.
Perhaps the new beginning Ashwini offers is not something we need to accomplish in the outer world, but a new relationship with our inner world.
A daily meditation practice, a walk in Nature, a few moments of silence each morning, or something simple and nourishing that reconnects us with the light of our own awareness.
As the Moon moves onward into Bharani, the nakshatra of gestation, transformation and birth, what begins as a spark may gradually find the conditions to take form. We need not force what is still becoming.

FINDING THE LIGHT WITHIN
Of all the storms gathering around us, perhaps the most important weather to pay attention to is our own.
The Sun's passage through Libra reminds us of the importance of balance, while Diwali offers the timeless invitation to rediscover the light within when the outer world grows dark.
Not by denying the uncertainty around us, but by learning to remain present within it. By observing our fears without allowing them to dictate the future we imagine, and cultivating enough inner stillness to recognize when action arises from clarity rather than reaction.
November may prove to be an astrological crescendo, setting the stage for profound changes in 2027. Yet a crescendo is not necessarily a catastrophe. It may also be the moment before an entirely new movement begins.
We can choose faith over fear, and become the eye of the storm in our own lives.
And from that place of steadiness, perhaps we can contribute a little more peace, compassion and clarity to the world around us.
If you're curious about how these planetary movements are unfolding in your own life, a personal Vedic astrology reading can illuminate which houses and areas of your birth chart are being activated. And if you're already familiar with your chart, a focused transit reading can help you explore the cycles and opportunities ahead.
For now, perhaps it is enough to remain present, listen deeply and pay attention to what is stirring beneath the surface.
Allow space for the unexpected, allow Nature to show us her wisdom, and allow magic to reveal itself.
