Waking in the Dream

Full Moon in Sidereal Pisces

Tonight we have a Full Moon in sidereal Pisces, in Uttara Bhadrapada nakshatra, ruled by Saturn and connected to the serpent of the depths of the ocean.

This is a time of release and resurrection. A time for honouring Nature, reconnecting with intuition, dreams and the subconscious, and allowing ourselves to descend beneath the surface.

This Full Moon invites deep reflection. Memories may arise. Old wounds may surface. Things we thought we had already moved beyond may ask to be felt again—not so we can remain there, but so we can finally understand what the lessons they held for us, release what is no longer ours to carry, and let go.

The Moon sits between Saturn and Neptune both retrograde in Pisces, intensifying this journey into the waters of the unconscious. At the same time, Jupiter is in Ashlesha, another serpent nakshatra, bringing the symbolism of the serpent strongly to the surface.

The serpent sheds its skin.

It descends beneath the earth.

It carries the ancient symbolism of death, transformation, healing and rebirth.

And perhaps something within us is ready to shed as well.

Saturn in the Waters

Saturn is also moving through Pisces in Revati nakshatra. When Saturn turns retrograde, we are invited to return to and review the previous months—to look again at what has happened and ask what remains unfinished.

There is something particularly interesting about Saturn and the Moon meeting in Pisces.

Saturn can sometimes freeze or contain emotion. The Moon calls us directly into it.

And all of this is happening during a period of review.

Revati, the final nakshatra of the zodiac, carries themes of completion, nourishment and safe passage. To me, there is something here about walking each other home—a connection not only to our individual emotional lives, but to collective wisdom and collective feeling.

Saturn in Pisces can be confusing. His usual disciplined, structured nature is pushed and pulled by the deep tides of the ocean.

And perhaps Saturn is asking:

*Which stories are not at an end?

What still needs to be felt?

What needs to be accepted and alchemized before the next chapter can truly begin? * This Full Moon – and the fortnight that follows – may therefore bring us into feelings we have been unwilling—or simply unable—to look at before.

But perhaps now it is time.

Revati carries the wisdom of acceptance: embracing what is so that we can move forward in greater wholeness.

Because when we remain fragmented and resistant, when we shut down the heart and live entirely through the ideas of the mind, the unlived pieces of ourselves do not simply disappear.

The invitation now is to go deeper.

To feel.

To remember what our lived experiences actually felt like in the heart so that we can begin to understand what they meant.

Only then can we gather the lessons they came to teach us.

And perhaps only when we receive the lesson can we truly move forward.

Something must always be released before we can grow. If we do not create space for the new, where will it enter?

The song of creation in every great myth travels on the wings of love.

And what is love if not acceptance?

What Happens If We Stop Running?

When big emotions rise to the surface and the heart twists and aches, we may become afraid to feel them.

Sometimes what arises is simply fear itself.

And that becomes the opportunity to say:

Great. Let me feel this.

Let me know this feeling.

Let me listen to what it is trying to show me.

Because on the other side of it may be everything we desire.

Dreamtime offers us a beautiful analogy.

Imagine a dream in which you are terrified.

Someone is chasing you.

Perhaps it is a wild animal.

Perhaps a rapid flood is heading straight toward you.

*But what happens if, in the dream, you stop running?

Can we die in a dream?

Can we come to any real harm within a fantasy of our own psyche's making?

Or is the dream trying to tell us something about who we truly are—and what we are afraid of within ourselves? After all, the dream, the dreamer and the dreamt story are all arising from within you.

Ultimately, we are every character in our dreams, whether or not we consciously recognize that aspect of our psyche yet.

Our individual consciousness creates the dream.

We are the creator in that moment.

And so the chaser is the chased.

The wild animal is the human.

The river is a part of you.

And maybe it doesn't want to be held back anymore.

Maybe it wants to wash over you so that you and it can become one.

Into the Ocean

So instead of numbing ourselves with substances, busyness or distraction, what if this Full Moon is a ripe opportunity to simply feel it all and surrender?

Surrender because one day we have to face the truth that there is no boat sailing into the sunset that can ever sail us out of our own minds.

But we can become the explorer who gets into the boat.

And what happens when we begin to wake up within the dream? Perhaps we become a little less afraid of what appears before us.

Perhaps instead of running from the wild animal, we turn toward it.

Instead of trying to hold back the river, we allow it to carry us.

Instead of pushing away the feeling that frightens us, we become curious enough to ask: What are you trying to show me?

Because waking up within the dream does not necessarily mean the frightening things disappear. It means we begin to recognize that we can meet them consciously.

We can choose to explore the oceans of our own consciousness, including the places we have been afraid to enter, and in doing so encounter the great unknown that lies within.

Perhaps that is where the serpent of the depths has been waiting for us all along.

Not to frighten us.

But to be known.

After all, what is life but a wonderfully complex, mysterious dream?…

It’s worth a wonder..

With love & gratitude,

christina
